-The company was awarded a € 5.3 million contract for the manufacture, installation and monitoring of 2,750 HomePaq modules.

-HomePaq allows packages to be sent and received 24 hours a day.

Azkoyen Group began this summer with the installation of the parcel delivery devices, HomePaq, in accordance with the € 5.3 million contract for the manufacture, installation, maintenance and monitoring of 2,500 new automated terminals (control modules) and 250 terminals (expansion modules) for CORREOS HomePaq parcel service. The system allows packages to be sent and received 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The multinational, with headquarters in Navarra, will, in the coming months, finish the installation of these HomePaq terminals throughout the national territory, focusing on sites of high urban density while also providing cover in less populated locations via the Repsol network of service stations, among others.

Homepaq is a parcel service that makes it easier to send and receive orders in a convenient, speedy and flexible way from residents communities, office buildings and other public spaces, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Users will be able to shop online and, for the delivery address, give the HomePaq device which they consider to be most convenient and which may be located at their office, at their building entrance, at their usual petrol station, or at a shopping centre.

The HomePaq control module is the intelligent device where the screen for communication with the user is located. Expansion modules with barcode readers may be added to these modules to increase the parcel delivery and receiving capacity.

The device has various compartments of different sizes. To operate it, the user must install an application on their computer or mobile, which will provide a code that can be typed in or passed through the HomePaq reader, to allow the compartment to be opened.

The general manager of Azkoyen, Eduardo Unzu, indicated that “the exponential growth of electronic commerce means that a service such as that offered by CORREOS has a huge growth potential, while filling a need for the users of online shopping”.

At the same time, he stressed that “all the terminals have a structure for vandal-proof doors, a system of online control to monitor all the operations performed at the terminal in order to minimise any error or fraud, and a control alarm system, thus, providing a system with a high degree of security and reliability”
